The kidney racket mastermind doctor Amit Kumar, who is reported to have possessed huge amount of cash during the time of his arrest, allegedly offered Rs 20 lakh as bribe to the Nepal police in lieu of freedom. A news daily reported the tainted doctor as pleading with the police not to arrest him.
KYA AADMI HAI!
Meanwhile, the arrested doctor admitted to his misdeeds on being interrogated by the Kathmandu police at the Hanumandhoka police station on Friday. Dr Amit has owned up that he performed around 300-400 kidney transplants with a 4-doctor team.
Shameless, sick and a monster!
Santosh Raut alias Dr Amit said that he was to shift his kidney organ trade network from India to Nepal with the help of his agent, Pankaj Jha.
Must have thought he would be safer in lawless Nepal.
Earlier, the Nepali Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ram Kumar Chaudhary disclosed that the operation was a joint effort of the Interpol and the Nepalese police. He informed that a lot of cash has also been recovered from him. “Euro nine lakh thirty six thousand worth of drafts, USD 1 lakh and forty five thousand along with some Nepali currency has been recovered.”
Crime pays for a while, but not always.
Three mobiles with SIM cards of Canada, Nepal and India have also been recovered from him. Dr Amit said that he had not been using his mobile phones since the last three days and was using STD booths instead to contact his family. His family is in Canada, where he has also shifted a huge portion of his colossal wealth.
Ill gotten gains.
The Kathmandu police have thanked Zee News for providing the vital breakthrough to the investigation. They said that the information provided by the channel helped to nab the kingpin stating that correspondent Rahul Agarwal met with the police team and exchanged vital information regarding the whereabouts of Dr Amit. Zee News was foremost to break the news that Dr Amit was hiding in Nepal.
