Jaya Bachchan gives Raj Thackeray an earful!

"I don't know who Raj Thackeray is: Jaya Bachchan"- YAHOO/INDIAN EXPRESS
After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray's attack on filmstar Amitabh Bachchan, the actor's wife and MP Jaya Bachchan hit out at him and said they were willing to start a school in the metropolis provided the MNS leader donated them the land.

Jaya was always more spirited than her husband. Amitabh is the furtive types, who hits back covertly, if he ever does. Coming back to Jaya; what a reply! Start a school and all! She is a better politician than her husband.

"I heard that Raj Thackeray owns huge properties in Maharashtra...in Mumbai...Kohinoor Mills. If he is willing to donate land, we can start a school in the name of (Jaya's daughter-in-law) Aishwarya here," she said at a press conference.

Why always Aishwarya? Why not in memory of Teji Bachchan?

"Bal Thackeray (Shiv Sena chief) is like a father to me and Uddhav (Sena Executive President) is his son. I don't know any other Thackeray," the actress-politician remarked.

Wow! What a brainwave. Side with uncle and his son; shun the nephew. His party is not doing well anyway. That is the reason Raj Thackeray picked on poor Amitabh in the first place.

Raj Thackeray raises stupid issue again!

"Big B’s 'UP interest' irks Raj Thackeray"- INDIAN EXPRESS

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray has attacked Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan for taking "more interest" in Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra.

But what is wrong with that? Anyway, why are you worried about that?

Thackeray said that though Bachchan has become a superstar in Mumbai but his heart is more inclined towards Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra.

Don't start these things please!

He said that Bachchan was behaving as if he was an ambassador of UP rather than Maharashtra and said his loyalty was more towards UP than Maharashtra.

Why rake up all this stupid stuff just to get votes?

Earlier, Thackeray received flak from political parties, for opposing 'Chhath Puja', for hurting the religious sentiments of people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
He had recently objected to celebration of Uttar Bharatiya Diwas and Chhath Puja in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra is a state of India, not a different country. How do these guys get elected?

Sharad Pawar offers way out of nuclear deal impasse. But can anyone understand what he is saying?

"Govt should not thrust Indo-US N- deal on anyone: Pawar"- INDIAN EXPRESS

The UPA government should "not thrust" the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal on anyone if the Left failed to play ball as the country needs stability, Union Minister Sharad Pawar has said.

Yeah. And you want to continue sitting on the cushy ministerial chair.

The NCP supremo, whose party is a key constituent of Congress led coalition at the Centre, also said that he was embarrassed by Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's suggestion that Pawar would make a good Prime Minister.

But very happy inside!

Asking the government to take a rational approach on the nuclear deal, he said, "We should try our level best to convince our colleagues, but if we are not in a position to convince... not getting total support... majority in Parliament, then we have to take a rational approach."

Meaning sit out the remaining term of the government. Hell with the nuclear deal.

Pawar, however, said that he would be happy if the nuclear deal goes through as it is an alternate method of generation of energy, which is the need of the hour and is also environment friendly.

Spoken like a lousy politico. Will the real Sharad Pawar stand up, please?

At the same time Pawar said, that the left parties which are opposing the deal are "honest to their thinking".

Yeah. They should not be hurt too. They have the numbers to let me sit in power till 2009. Kal kya hoga, kisko patta?

Pawar did not agree with the suggestion that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram has failed to deliver the goods. He suggested it was wrong to blame them as the government is not made of one or two parties and there are Left parties which have "some different thinking".

Can you figure out the meaning of that?

"I don't have the strength and numbers in Parliament. It is not the question of liking it or not. It is just not possible with 14 MPs."

But one can always dream.

WB govt. contemplates US help in birdflu.

"US ready to help fight Bengal bird flu, state says tell us your plan"- INDIAN EXPRESS

Hours after the US offered to assist West Bengal in checking the spread of bird flu which already has half the state in its grip, the state government today said Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had asked the Chief Secretary to speak to the Americans on how they could help.

Shame on you comrades. Maharashtra did not need any help last year. Also what about your anti-imperialist ideology? Mr. Prakash Karat and Mr. Sitaram Yechuri, where are you?

The state said a similar offer for help had come from the Chinese.

That must have made you happy. Mai-baap to the rescue!

The US government approached the Ministry of External Affairs last week to say it could provide technical support to the West Bengal government for surveillance and diagnosis of the virus - both, in human beings, in case the virus travels to them, and in poultry. It also offered to provide protection gear and other equipment for workers involved in controlling the outbreak.

Why this generosity towards the left? Hoping for a change of heart from the comrades on the civilian nuclear deal?

Since it was first detected on January 4, the bird flu virus has spread to 13 districts in West Bengal, making it the worst outbreak of the disease in India.

No wonder. West Bengal under the left has gone downhill.

"It was the US Consul General in Kolkata, Henry Jardine, who came up with the help offer. But without the Centre's permission, we cannot do anything. So we will ask the Union Government to get in touch with the US government on how they plan to help us," Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb told The Indian Express.

Yeah. So the Centre says the thank yous. We can take the help without being indebted to the Americans. Clever.

Meanwhile, China's Consul General in Kolkata, Mao Siwei, has also offered help. He told The Indian Express: "I took a personal initiative to meet him (the Chief Secretary). I have been reading about the disease in different newspapers. I wanted to know if my country could be of any help."

Izzat ka sawaal hai. If US comes we come too. Anyway our comrades in West Bengal are very faithful. More faithful to us than to the Indian government.

Rajnath Singh praises Narendra Modi: Politics of expediency

"Rajnath to CMs: Emulate Modi"- THE TIMES OF INDIA
--------

Party president Rajnath Singh praised Modi for changing the perception that BJP could not buck the incumbency disadvantage in a state.

There is nothing called "incumbency disadvantage". Just be efficient. And don't be corrupt. You'll keep getting the votes. Even if you are a newer version of Adolph Hitler.

This is being seen as the CM's triumph in forcing rival party factions to accord him a higher ranking in the party estimate.

It is an animal's world. Survival of the fittest.

Urging state units to begin preparations in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan which go to the polls in November, Singh used the Gujarat performance to egg on the leaders to beat incumbency in these party-ruled states.

Yeah, beat the stuffing out of the minorities and get the votes from the communal minded.

"We have shattered the myth in Gujarat that a BJP government cannot return to power twice or thrice. MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan should also try to repeat this kind of success," Singh said.

Communal riots, I presume?

The fulsome praise from the party chief, which was reflected in spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad's remark to reporters that "Modi has done extraordinary job", took insiders by surprise.

What is so surprising? Everybody loves a winner. Even if you hate the guy's guts, pretend to love him. See the warm Rajnath-Modi embrace!

Bal Thackeray and Narendra Modi: Changing political relations

"Bal Thackeray can't digest Modi"- The Times of India

Soon afterwards, Modi told one family that they should not serve him food till they were convinced he was picking up Marathi.

He was always a tough and determined guy.

When Modi spoke in chaste Marathi for almost 10 minutes at the massive Shivaji Park rally in Mumbai on Sunday, it didn't go down quite well with Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray. The Tiger felt his crowd pulling capacity at this hallowed venue was under threat in his own den.

"Ek jungle mein do sher nahin rah sakte"

The huge largely middle-class Maharashtrian crowd went in raptures at the chaste Marathi that the 'Gujarat ka Sher' was speaking.

Accept it guys. He has a pan-Indian appeal.

He spoke in chaste Marathi for only about 10 minutes, not mentioning Bal Thackeray or his Shiv Sena which is the Bharatiya Janata Party's electoral ally.

Who needs the Shiv Sena when he can win Maharashtra on his own?
