RANBIR KAPOOR gets more chances despite flop debut

Ranbir Kapoor says he is very grateful to the film fraternity that though his debut film Saawariya, a musical by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, bombed at the box office he has still got good offers from filmmakers which show that they trust him to deliver a good performance.

Ranbir has three big films in his kitty – the Yash Raj banner’s Bachna Ae Haseeno, Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

“It is really heart-warming that even though Saawariya flopped, I have got offers and really good ones,” he says. “This shows that my performance did not go unnoticed and that people rely on me to do good work. I hope I can do justice to their trust.”

More than your promise, lad, it is the fact that you are Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh's son that is enabling you to get all the roles. If there had been another newcomer in your place, he would be history by now. Producers seem to think that sons and daughters of former (or current) stars seem to possess some sort of magic and so they give them many chances. Also star sons come with ready publicity (being a star aulad). Also Indian audiences have affection for offsprings of their favourite stars; that is an added advantage.

In Bachna Ae Haseeno Katrina Kaif was supposed to play the fourth love interest of Ranbir but her role got chopped off leading to media speculations. We quizzed him about why this actually happened?

“Oh it was nothing. The decision was taken to make the film shorter. We were going over time and then they (director and producer) thought that the chapter wasn’t required and in fact it wasn’t adding anything more to the film. There’s nothing to read in between lines,” he says.

Fishy! There must be something there. no one drops Katrina. No one would be that stupid!
