Raj Thackeray's politics of hate has claimed another victim. This time a rather stupid youth from Patna.
Reports say Rahul Raj boarded a BEST bus and then created a ruckus. He waved a gun around, trieds to strangle the bus conductor, then changed his mind. He was waving the gun through the bus window all the time.
Passengers of the bus say he was saying he would not harm anyone else, he only wanted to kill Raj Thackeray.
The Mumbai police pumped four bullets into him. He obviously died instantaneously.
One feels that the police over-reacted. They could have talked to the over-wrought man and disarmed him. Shooting him on the head was rather drastic.
Rahul Raj was a X-Ray technician in Patna who had come to Mumbai in search for better prospects. What he did shows he was a rather stupid and immature young man. Raj Thackeray's hate campaign against North Indians must have stirred his Bihari pride. I guess he must seen Bollywood films since childhood. He must decided that he must kill Raj Thackeray and avenge the insult and oppression against Biharis in Mumbai. All very filmi. But reality is different. He was shot dead by the Mumbai police.
As usual, politicians have latched on to the incident. Sad. Also ironic that a stupid young man protests against what Raj Thackeray is doing and was shot like a dog. Raj Thackeray is breaking the country slowly and gets out on bail within minutes. The whole thing stinks.
